Next year marks the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 when all men over 21 and women over 30 years of age received the vote. Women over the age of 21 were also given the right to stand for election as an MP in the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act of 1918.

The actual date that the Representation of the People Act was given Royal Assent was the 6th February 1918 so many events will take place around this time.

It is also International Women’s Day 8th March 2018 the theme next year is Empowering Women to Lead.
